MY PASSION

I understand how important it is to you that your chosen portrait is not just a painting, but a carefully considered study which will capture the individual characteristics and personality of your chosen subject.

My aim is not to simply reproduce your photographs, but to create a lively piece of art which will evoke a feeling of presence.

My preference is always to meet with the subject where possible, in order to give me a better understanding of personality, colours, tones etc. Ideally a portrait would be completed through a mixture of sittings and photographs, however, I understand that this is not always possible, therefore a collection of photographs can work just as well.

It does help if the photos are of a decent quality.

If I am to use photos supplied by yourself, permission must be sought if they were taken professionally, as the photographer holds copyright to his/her images. I have yet to encounter any problems with this, as usually they are happy to help.I can credit them in any future social media shares.

Your artwork can be commissioned to any size and in any medium.

My preferences are oils, pastels and charcoal/conté studies. While dimensions are a factor, it is the medium and subject matter that will determine the final price.

I can also help with framing ideas if you are local to the area. I feel that it's important to choose wisely when framing, as a well chosen frame should enhance your artwork without being overbearing.  A knowledgeable and excellent service is provided by both EAS in Broughty Ferry and Canvas Art Gallery in Forfar.

If you would like any more information or are interested in commissioning a portrait, please feel free to phone or email me. Alternatively, you are more than welcome to arrange an appointment to visit me in the studio, I will be happy to show you current projects, and go through any queries or requirements you may have.
